PRE-SAFE® PLUS expands existing assistance and safety systems to further relieve and protect the driver and passengers. In the event of an imminent rear-end collision, the traffic following behind is warned by means of rapidly flashing warning lights, reversible belt tensioners are activated and the stationary vehicle is braked firmly.

Active Steering Assist uses gentle steering interventions to help the driver keep the new CLS centred in the lane and can provide relief, particularly on monotonous stretches of straight and slightly curving road. Another component of the assistant is the Active Emergency Stop Assistant with SOS function.

Active Blind Spot Assist monitors poorly visible areas and can help prevent accidents through brake application. In addition, the exit warning function warns of road users such as passing cyclists. Ambient lighting in the exit door signals danger and can thus reduce a collision.

Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC automatically regulates the distance to the vehicle in front. The system maintains the preselected target distance to moving and stopping vehicles and also adapts the speed to route events which lie ahead such as curves, junctions, toll booths or turns on a route-based basis.

The Active Speed Limit Assist can also help to keep to the prescribed speed limit in unclear situations. Traffic Sign Assist detects speed limits, which Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC automatically adopts and sets as the speed - for more safety and comfort when driving.
